This explains what personal data we collect on jenscooks.com, why, and what your rights are.

1. Who is responsible for your data

Jens Ejler Hannibal (sole trader, trading as JensCooks), Thorshavnsgade 16, 2300 Copenhagen S, Denmark.
Email: [email protected]

2. What we collect and why

When you buy a course
Your name, email address, country and payment details. We use them to give you access, send your receipt and keep our accounts. Card details are handled by Stripe; we only see the card type and last four digits.
Legal basis: to fulfil our contract with you, and our legal duty to keep accounts.

When you take the course
Your login, lesson progress, quiz answers, and any questions or posts you send for the Q&As or the community. We use these to run the course and answer you.
Legal basis: to fulfil our contract with you.

When you sign up for emails
Your name and email address, and whether you open or click our emails. We use them to send you cooking ideas and news about our courses. You can unsubscribe at any time with the link in every email.
Legal basis: your consent.

When you email us
Your message and contact details, so we can reply.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering you.

When you visit the website
Your IP address, device and browser type, the pages you visit, and cookies (see section 6). We use this to keep the site running and secure, understand how it's used, and measure our ads.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest for what's needed to run the site; your consent for marketing cookies.

3. Who we share it with

We only share your data with services that help us run the course:

  • Kajabi — our course platform, website, checkout and email system (USA)
  • Stripe — payment processing (EU and USA)
  • Meta Platforms (Facebook and Instagram) — the Meta Pixel, which measures our ads and can be used to show you our ads
  • Wistia — the video player on our pages (USA)
  • Font and code providers (such as Google Fonts) — these receive your IP address when a page loads
  • Our accountant and the Danish authorities, where the law requires it

We never sell your data.

4. Data sent outside the EU

Some of these services are based in the USA. Where your data leaves the EU, it's protected by approved safeguards, such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the EU's standard contractual clauses.

5. How long we keep it

  • Course customers: for as long as you have access to the course
  • Accounting records: 5 years from the end of the financial year, as Danish bookkeeping law requires
  • Email list: until you unsubscribe
  • Emails you send us: as long as needed to help you, then deleted

6. Cookies

Cookies are small files your browser stores. We use three kinds:

  • Essential — keep you logged in and make checkout work and stay safe from fraud (Kajabi, Stripe)
  • Analytics — help us see how the site is used (Kajabi)
  • Marketing — the Meta Pixel, which measures our ads and helps show them to people likely to be interested

We ask for your consent before using marketing cookies. You can change your choice at any time, delete cookies in your browser settings, and turn off personalised ads in your Facebook or Instagram settings.

7. Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • see the data we hold about you
  • correct it
  • delete it
  • limit how we use it, or object to how we use it
  • send it to you or another service in a common format
  • withdraw your consent at any time

Just email [email protected]. We'll reply within one month.

If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency, Datatilsynet (datatilsynet.dk).

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version is always on this page.
